She keeps bringing home plants (not complaining) but like they aren’t looking great and I don’t know how to help them or what they are. Minus the basil I know what that is but not why it keeps dying 2nd plant gotten yesterday wilting immediately. Thank you <3

They likely get watered every 2-3 days between me and my family, they get quite a bit of interest sunlight throughout the whole day, temp is usually around 68°-80° (we don’t have great temp control in summer) I have aquatic plant fertilizer if that could help? Random potting soil? Maybe rose mix, the basils in what was the orchid pot (r.i.p)

Every 2-3 days is way too much watering.

She could have a much worse hobby AND it sounds like you guys are enjoying them but don’t overwater!

I think the consensus is “overwatering” 😂

It looks like most of the plants you have like to dry out between waterings. This means, you stick your finger into the soil and it is dry up to your first knuckle (at least). If you rub your fingers together and you see a little muddy residue, it’s not thirsty yet.

Soil matters. Average miracle grow potting soil with some perlite sprinkled in works well for most plants. You can give them a food spike every 90 days for fertilizer. (I like the brand Jobe’s).

So, there’s a few tips to get you going 😄

Actually, my mum always loved plants but doesn’t have the attention span to nurture them properly. That’s how I got into houseplants myself. (I have a bit more of a knack for it than her).
