Angela Judd from Growing in the Garden shared her favorite flowers that bloom in the spring, but you can get your seeds started in the house now and they’ll be ready to plant in the fall (depending on where you live, of course). Watch on to see which she flowers she recommends – we want to plant them all!
Which were your favorites? We couldn’t pick one so we’ll just plant them all. Angela explained more in the video’s caption, “You don’t have to be a flower farmer to have fresh blooms that fill your garden and vases all spring! Start these seeds indoors this summer; they will be ready to plant in the fall. Those strong plants will have deep roots and produce long, beautiful stems.”

How to Start Seeds Indoors
Ready to get your seeds started indoors but not sure where to start? We’ve got some tips that will help if you’re a beginner interested in getting started.
Start by reading the information on the seed packet as most will list when the seeds should be started indoors. For example, it may say, “Start indoors 8–10 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area.” Not sure when that is? You can check the Almanac’sFrost Date Calculator. They also have a Planting Calendar that calculates dates to start seeds for common vegetables and herbs based on your frost date and your location.
You’ll need an all-purpose potting mix to start your seeds. You can plant them in a large pot, plug trays, or even repurpose containers like egg cartons or plastic muffin trays. Just make sure to clean them first and poke a few drainage holes in the bottoms. Once planted and watered, keep them in a warm sunny spot (like a window) and before you know it you’ll have tiny plants sprouting!
There’s still time to get seeds going for your fall garden, too!
