This video was taken in my simulated Blackland pocket prairie in North Central Texas, and shows a pair of American Bumble Bees (Bombus pensylvanicus) visiting our Fall Obedient Plants. I believe one is a queen from the pollen baskets on their rear legs, but please correct me if that’s wrong.
Our city council rep has made it his personal mission to destroy our pocket prairie due to a “large number” of people complaining about our “weeds”. Our pocket prairie is confined to a subsection of our front lawn and is cut back from all property lines and surrounded by neatly cut lawn grass which is mowed once a week. He will not be successful, so don’t worry.
