What happened with my young monstera? Didn’t see any pests.

It’s too uniform to be pests.  Mechanical damage, or most likely sunburn.

This is almost certainly LED light burn, how close was this leaf to the light?

When a leaf of mine gets damaged I get so upset but tbh this looks cool so I wouldn’t even be mad 😅 but yea check for random concentrated sunbeams- I have a mirrored disco planter I found was burning a spot in one of my plants from the reflection of the sun

I had a vase that the sun was hitting causing a beam to burn leaves. It was a line of burns crossed the shelf as the sun moved throughout the day.

Aliens! It’s obviously been probbed! 👽

My guess, there is a wind chime, or chandelier or something reflecting light on your leaf at an intense rate.

This damage occurred when the leaf was still rolled up. It was possibly weeks ago that the rolled up delicate young leaf was squished or burned or a bug ate a hole. Thats why it creates this symmetrical pattern.

Source: i grew >30 species of monstera once

And these burn points? Too accurate for plant pests. Only window blinds are so precise.

Do you have a mirror or something reflective near by like a disco ball? Looks like burns, the angling leads me to believe it’s from sunlight bouncing off something nearby

Was it super close to one of those grow lights with a bunch of little LEDs? It looks like it got burned by the lights while the leaf was still rolled up.

This is 100% damage caused from a light source!

    The technical term is “tantoo”

Wait a minute. What are those red pins to the left on the photo?
The distance between the red pins or sticks looks similar to on the leaves. Is there any way the leaves can have been smothered up against them while rolled up?

The red thing is the culprit if you ask me. 😊

That’s sun damage. Something is focusing the light and the movement of the sun through the sky makes the pattern.

    I’m 99% certain.

I have that where a grow light fell on my leaf.

It looks like when the sun shines through the tiny holes in blinds

this is SO cool. sad for baby monstera but super uniform is interesting

    I’m sorry , I meant good eye!🙏🏽

  19. See if the spacing on the burns lines up with the little LED diodes in your grow light.

I’d hate if it happened to mine too, but….I’d cut it off down toward the growth point and press it. It would make a super cool framed leaf.

Too late to change it but it could turn into something really cool!

  21. MelTram78

I would say from a grow bulb. One of mine has like 100 little lights on it and i bet it would do that if its too close.

If this is a new leaf that unfurled recently, any damage will unfurl into linear patterns. Imagine rolling up a piece of a paper and punch a hole through it, and then unroll, you will see something similar.

  23. original_M_A_K

    Reflection burn from something outside

  24. Looks like Aliens 👽 pattern is at play !!
