I have had to this plant for a few months I was doing maintenance on my collection today when I pulled off what I thought was a dried bottom leaf but discovered it had a root attached. If you look at pics 2 & 3 you will see the leaf with attached root. My question is will this leaf root and be able to propagate or is it a waste of time to try. If it will propagate and grow any advice how to better increase my odds would be appreciated.

Hi there, that looks like a tag from lynsey succulent, if I’m not mistaken.

You can throw that dried leaf away, it will not propagate. Single leaf propagation is possible with haworthia, but it’s not a rapid process.

YouTube has unlimited videos showing single leaf props of haworthia, someone linked a G. Marx video about this very topic earlier today.

Hey! I just posted about my leaf propagations earlier today. Personally I would stick this dried leaf in some well draining soil, mist it, and see if it grows a baby plant. I feel like since it already has a root attached, it has a better chance of forming a propagation. I could be wrong, but the thing I love about growing succulents is experimenting and trying out new things. I didn’t think my shriveled up leaf cuttings would grow, but they did! I would also recommend the video that was linked on my post if you’d like more tips about leaf propagations.

  3. Yes you can root prop haworthia. I’ve just put them in a pot and water normal. Couple years later I had to plantlets. Just don’t forget it’s not an empty pot.

It is possible but not a common practice compared to other succulents. Most mention that a piece of the stem is necessary in order for it to root. There no rule that says you can’t try. Good luck!
