I found 5 Giant Swallowtail caterpillars on this small plant of the herb Rue. Rue is a great companion plant for fig. I had planned once it took off like right about now. I was going to plant it into a big pot with fig, but it has served a different purpose!

I thought I recognized that plant as Rue, Ruta Graveolens. So I just learned that Giant Swallowtails and Black Swallowtails and Anise Swallowtails like to eat it. Good to know! Thanks Kaye! Blessings 🌻🦋🌳

Thanks for sharing. The markings really are beautiful. I trust your back feels better today. Kind regards, Marie
God's creation is so clever 😁
Grow something they like and they will come. Surprised you have so many on one plant.
Never seen those caterpillars on my plants, only the green/yellow/black striped ones. Very interesting to see the black swallowtail ones!
UPDATE: Just checked on them and all 5 are frozen, not moving. 3 are full size and 2 are small.
How exciting!
Can you put them in a jar with sticks and leaves??
Whae.kaye.you have definitely got green fingers and a beautiful homestead /wild life garden.😊❤😂xxx
Something is eating my fennel, but no signs of a caterpillar, the black swallowtail devoured my dill, got at least 30 off one plant.
