I’m moving house, and my Satin Pothos has grown like a champ over the last 5 years living up on my kitchen mezzanine. My new house doesn’t have any high ceilings or places to put a huge trailing vine, but I’m loathe to do anything drastic to my beauty. Anyone have any big-ass vine plants that don’t have a place to hang? Just wrap the vines around some sort of ‘trunk’?

I’ve seen people have trailing plants along the walls. Maybe try that?

I have a pothos that lives on a regular plant stand with the vines trained onto the walls by command hooks. Every once in a while I might add a new hook.

You’d need a lot of command hooks to hold this beauty, though.

Have it hanging off the ceiling, use hanging basket.

I would personally trim it and propagate. This way you have an even more plant. I think you could find away to train it vertically or hang it, but key word is “train” I think it’ll look messy if you just rearrange all the long vines. I know trimming is scary, but it’s so good for your plants and then you get another plant!!

I would take some cuttings for propagation, until it reaches a size that fits in its new home. Also, I’d check if the roots still have room to grow in that vase.

Beautiful plant and beautiful house. I wish you could leave the plant and I could move there. Happy Moving. Hope you enjoy your new home.

Take it with you or leave it as a welcome present for the new homeowner

Take some cuttings and recreate the magic. It is now “real property” and must stay with the house.

I would move using a wardrobe box. You can hang the plant and the vines can pool in the bottom.

  11. Mine has a cone shapped trellis that is attached to. It’s about 1 meter tall

Wow! You don’t have to butcher her but I’d clip some to propagate in case anything happens or it stresses out with the move.

Just tossing out a punny real estate joke.
A prop from that will make a nice house warming gift, I’m sure new owners will appreciate it.

Id trim about half the length and put it on the fridge. Assuming new kitchen gets enough light.

That’s a beautiful Scindapsus Pictus Exotica, not a pothos. Very good growers! And, beautiful foliage to boot. Mine is getting huge too. I love it 🥰

Right, where in your new house is the light for plants? What are we working with here?

I’ve seen magnificent vines directed up and over bookcases and over doorways, but you need to hang/ place the roots up a bit too to make it easier for the plant. Check that she has enough root space in her new environment to stay healthy.

  17. good god that thing has its own gravitational pull

you can maybe replicate the vibe it by putting it on top of the refrigerator you have at the back! maybe add a good halo grow light on top attached to the pot and you should be good
