Caught this pretty little boy on my purple coneflower this morning. First time seeing one in the area

    if you leave your dried seed heads up in fall/winter , you’ll likely continue to see them. American Goldfinches are exclusively seed eaters.

    If you plant it… they will come… and yank all the petals off the flowers to get to the seeds easier lol. Silly creatures are the cause of all of my bald zinnias, tithonia, and coneflowers. But they’re having fun and they’re so pretty.

    I have a small smattering of goldfinches that love my sunflowers. I get a fair amount of joy seeing their little butts up in the air while they snack. 

    It’s also their mating season, and I think their mating song is so pretty.

    I’ve been seeing goldfinches since I planted purple coneflower and black-eyed susans. They’re so pretty!
