I figured I'd throw another video out there since so many people seemed to like seeing the chickens managing my compost yesterday. It actually didn't take all that long to get yesterday's mess sorted out; I don't think it was much more than an hour. And luckily I didn't have nearly as much to add today, so I should be back on track. I still wish I was on a twice (or thrice)-a-week schedule for collecting those food scraps rather than every single day, but hey, I'm on top of it for 24 hours, at least.

How are you keeping the coyote from getting them?

That actually does look a bit more organized! Well done!! 👍

Why not stack it all up in one pile? More mass in one place will help it heat up.

The cool thing is the biggest issue with the food scraps is the bugs… wait, scratch that. Lol.
On a serious note. I love the idea of chickens that have access to grains, bugs and produce. It’s also a great way to cut back on feed.
There’s a youtube channel that has a similar setup. Lots of free scraps, compost and chickens.
The chicken area is the compost pile area. It’s on a hill. New stuff goes on top. Gravity, chickens and rain drag stuff downhill.
Anyways. Good luck and hopefully see an update down the road.
