Pumpkins we've been growing with the kids. This doesn't look good, I figured some the damage was due to the recent sun but now I've seen a lot of white marks on them. Are they all doomed? What's going on here?

    Correct if wrong but…

Powder is Downey mildew. Spray it with a solution of milk and water – my courgettes get it every year, it doesnt affect the fruit and the plant looks established so you should be fine.

Second, Sun and nutrient deficiency? It’s been a hot week. Give it a good feed and plenty of water

    Both are recoverable!

The white is powdery mildew. It won’t affect the actual pumpkins if you have got any, I snip away the leaves round the pumpkins so they have full sun to ripen.

Mildew can also be countered with dilute vinegar, mix 1 to 10 with water. Soak a soft rag, an old dish cloth or t-towel, and gently clean the surface of the leaves, I find from stem to tip is easiest.
