The garden, part of Banbury Community Support Services (CSS), was unveiled on Tuesday, August 12.

Banbury CSS provides day support for adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, dementia, autism, and age-related conditions.

The garden had fallen into disrepair after vandalism left a polytunnel destroyed and paths unsafe.

Jen Farrell, service manager at Banbury CSS, said: “This garden is more than a space: it’s a symbol of what we can achieve when we come together.

“It reflects the compassion and determination of everyone involved, from volunteers to local businesses.”

A fundraising campaign was launched through charity The Friends of Redlands, and Milestone, a local company, stepped in to rebuild the garden free of charge.

They restored the space in just one week and continue to support the project by painting fences.

Councillor Tim Bearder, from Oxfordshire County Council, which runs Banbury CSS, said: “Banbury CSS has shown how compassion and collaboration can transform lives and spaces.

“It’s a privilege to support such a remarkable initiative. I would like to add my heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers that gave their time and resources to make this happen.”

The garden is now fully wheelchair accessible, with raised beds and quiet corners.

Six volunteers help to maintain the space every Monday.
