My meadow blazing star (Liatris ligulistylis) tends to be done blooming by time the Monarch migration hits my area (SW Chicago suburbs). My button blazing star (Liatris aspera), on the other hand, is in full bloom for much of the migration. I tell everyone I know in northern and central Illinois to skip L. ligulistylis and go with L. aspera instead.
