Dobbies Garden Centres in Antrim and Lisburn are inviting families and gardening enthusiasts to take part in a series of free workshops this September, designed to inspire both young and seasoned gardeners.
The events include Little Seedlings Club, tailored for children, and Grow How, an interactive session for adults keen to enhance their gardening knowledge.
Learning About Orchards – Little Seedlings Club
On Sunday 7 September, children aged 4–10 are encouraged to join the Incredible Orchards workshop at both stores.

The interactive session will introduce young gardeners to the life cycle of fruit trees, seasonal changes in orchards, and the importance of these habitats for wildlife such as bees, birds and beetles.
The children will also enjoy a hands-on apple tree craft activity to bring their learning to life.
Mow & Grow – practical tips for gardeners
The Grow How sessions, titled Mow & Grow, will run on Wednesday 3 September and Saturday 6 September at 10:30am and 3:30pm in both Antrim and Lisburn stores. These half-hour workshops include a live demonstration and Q&A session led by a member of Dobbies’ Green Team.
This month’s focus will be on lawncare and seasonal planting, offering expert tips on preparing the garden for autumn and winter. Attendees will also learn how to plant a bulb lasagne to create a continuous display of flowers from late autumn right through to spring 2026.
Supporting gardeners of all ages
Dobbies’ Plant Buyer, Nigel Lawton, highlighted the importance of making gardening accessible:
“Autumn is a great time of year in the gardening calendar and our free-to-attend workshops at the Antrim and Lisburn stores showcase just how accessible and fun this hobby is. These sessions are designed for gardeners of all ages and abilities.
“Those attending our Little Seedlings Club will discover the wonders of an orchard, and September’s Grow How session, Mow & Grow, will help give gardeners the confidence to get ahead of the season by preparing the garden for the cooler months while ensuring a colourful bloom right the way through to next year with carefully selected bulbs.”
How to book
Both the Little Seedlings Club and Grow How sessions are free to attend, but spaces are limited. Interested participants are encouraged to reserve their spot via the Dobbies website at www.dobbies.com/events.
