Hey all. This is Spot. Spot was doing great for a couple months and growing huge leaves. Spot started getting burnt leaves and really droopy. I thought maybe root rot so I took him out and the roots look okay but not too established. Spot lives near a south facing window. Gets water only when the top inch looks dry. The soil felt a bit too moist when I took him out. The pot has one drain hole that I expose when watering. Any help is much appreciated!

That looks like chemical or leaf burn. They can take quite a bit of sun but it has to acclimate. They are prone to spider mites, especially if they’re not watered consistently, but it’s hard to tell from your picture if that’s what’s going on. I would put her in a pot that’s only slightly bigger than the root ball, with a 50/50 soil/perlite mix and put her somewhere she only gets morning or late afternoon sun, or even just a shady spot in your garden. Leave that damaged leaf until it’s completely gone (let’s the main plant absorb whatever it can from it). Don’t fertilize or anything. Should come back for you. My mojito elephant ear is my slowest growing elephant ears of all, and I have probably 10 different varieties, so just be patient.
Also, make sure it’s in a pot that has lots of drain holes on the bottom. A lot of colocasia (elephant ears) are resistant to being over watered, but the mojito is not.
