How we built our greenhouse shower! #homestead #offgrid #farm
Behind me is a shower that we’ve built in the greenhouse. But let’s back up really quick. I could not find a greenhouse shower concept for the life of me. So, I’m going to show you how we made ours. We built and stained a level platform and then built a dome from dome spaces. I screwed down Hardy Backer and built an octagon-shaped platform in the center to complement the roundness of the dome. We waterproofed it and built a small backboard wall from the cedar wood we harvested from our land and laid down a black shower tile. Oh, and this is Penny. She’s an absolute menace, but clearly very cute. Once we got the wall up, we installed a water recycling shower unit from Rainstick so we can save as much water and energy as possible. Next, I happily directed my OCD tendencies into puzzle piecing the river rocks together in the most meticulous way while Penny ate our screws and nails. Working in a greenhouse in the middle of summer is borderline masochistic, but we persevered and finally got it done. Then, we decorated with plants and greenhouse happy trees. We went in and cleaned up the mortar so the rocks look super clean. But the most satisfying thing so far might just be pulling off the protective sticker. Can anyone relate? And here’s the finished product. What do you think? Is this something you would use? Overall, we’re really happy with it. I haven’t seen anything like this before, and I’m proud with how we just came up with an idea and made it happen. Let’s just say this shower felt super deserved and honestly probably very much needed. But what do you think of this shower concept? Let me know your thoughts.

So you built a shower under shelter to protect yourself from the outside weather which you then have to brave to get back to your house? In the summer I imagine the dome is a sauna and in the winter it’s an igloo.
