  2. I just planted a bunch of old seeds around my shed for the critters that live back there, maybe they’ll share some with me 🙂

  3. Great video Gary. Thanks. I sprouted shelling peas indoor in wet towel and than put them in container. They are about two inches tall. When can I feed WS fertilizer? Please advice. Zone 6A. Thanks

  4. Hi Gary,

I just did a clean up harvest with my green beans this morning. The other day, racoons cleaned out my cantaloupe, so I pulled them up, and the watermelon too. I need to dig out those beds, lay down hardware cloth, refill and top with Black Cow. My compost isn’t ready yet. That is on my to do list for Sunday and Monday.

Ambient temperatures are in the low to mid 90s in my area, Sylacauga AL. It is a bit too warm for direct sowing. I need to get started with broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, red cabbage, rutabagas, and turnips, so I’ll start seed starts in my bedroom, where it is airconditioned, then take the sprouts outside to a shady area. Peas, chard, Romaine Lettuce, Pak Choi, and radishes will Have to wait until the beginning of September and cooler weather, else another batch of seed starts inside my bedroom.

I’ll be getting peppers for another two months, and the sweet potatoes should be ready to harvest around September 10th. It will be sweet potatoes out, and rutabagas in right behind them. I’m cutting my timing close. No carrots this season. I still have plenty in my freezer. But I will be planting parsnips the first week of September for a January 20th harvest. I’m still doing the year-round gardening thing. I still haven’t learned that I am not suppose to grow a garden in the winter. LOL. I’ll be starting brassica seed starts in the middle of December. I’m getting an earlier start this year.

  5. I’m zone 8a planted my carrots 2 weeks ago they germinated in a week. I did the cardboard trick , thinned yesterday. This week end I’m replanting beets trying peas for the first time ever. I think I’m going to plant more carrots. I planted a bit more squash my summer squash is close to done. This is the first year I’ve tried fall planting . Is it too late for more potatoes? By the way I highly recommend Agro Thrive I switched in May and have had amazing growth versus the other brand I was using!
