Hey everyone. So, I have a question for you. How many of y’all container garden? And I don’t just mean container garden because you’re maybe living in an apartment and you have a small patio and you don’t have any other choice but to container garden. But for like me in this garden right here, and as you can see, I I’ve got inground beds and every other thing. But I also have containers, containers, containers, containers. But why? If you plant, say, a pepper in an area that gets a lot of sun, but it’s getting too much sun, say the evening heat is just killing that pepper plant, then you can move it. Or if you’re getting, if you planted, say, tomatoes in a container and you have it in an area that you thought would be perfect, but it’s not getting enough sun, move it. Or if you just really like to plant certain things in containers because you can move them, then do that. I think container gardening is one of the best, most beneficial things a beginner gardener can do because you are learning from a basic standpoint on your vegetables, what they need, what the sun is, your yard, what your sun pattern is for your yard. Does this crop get too much sun or not enough sun? Are you getting too much water or not enough water? Also, container gardening makes you kind of stay on top of your plants because the only nutrition that a container plant can get is what you give it. They can’t send out their roots like all of these plants right here and go find the nutrition that they need. So, it makes you a more attentive gardener. And I think that’s important for beginner gardeners to really learn that fact that these plants, especially in containers, are dependent upon you. If you container garden, drop it in the comments. Tell me why you’re container gardening and what you’re growing in your containers. I think this is a great beneficial experience that all gardeners should know.

  1. So true! I grow mostly in raised beds but I’ve also got a bunch of medicinal herbs in containers. I’ve been moving the containers around to figure out the best spot for them. Having certain plants in containers really helps!

  2. Greetings friend. Thank you so much for this post. I am very new bout 4-5 months now. I am the Humble Beginnings Gardener greetings. I know nothing but am consumed with it❤God put it in my heart as he uses me to help others repent. I found myself not knowing the concept of seed sowing🤪I could understand why just #1 seedling will give just one cabbage or one anything. YouTubers like you friend help beginners ty. At this point I have a lot of seedlings and so thrilled I am goofy crazy trying to get it together. Thank you🔥♥️🔥

  3. Been container gardening for about 5 years now. Started out an experiment and some therapy and turned into a full blown passion ❤ recently started in ground with some things like basil and dill and various flowers. Love and thanks from New Orleans ❤❤❤

  4. I live on an acre. I have about half and half. Containers give you the opportunity to have some control over growing conditions. I live in the low AZ desert so moving plants keep them alive. I do need to fertilize more often. I can protect plants from rabbits and birds when planted in containers. My in ground gardens are full of clay. And the soil lacks organic matter also. I grow eggplant. Bell peppers, parsley, tomatoes, chives, some herbs. Milkweed, native flowers like Mexican Hat, gazania, ruellia in purple white and pink, Calendula. Vinca, petunias, some cacti. Also being as old as I am, containers raise the level up making it easier for me to maintain.

  5. @havenhound55 We ALL start out knowing NOTHING! You will learn much here. There is also great information from other influencers like Budget Gardening with Vita Loco and She's a Mad Gardener. She isn't mad like angry, but mad like crazy gardener like most of us!!!! They show you step by step just what you need to do and how. Seed starting, potting up, maintenance, pruning and planting in the garden. WELCOME TO GARDENING! Sometimes things just don't work out for many reasons. So don't give up if things don't seem to be working. Even experienced gardeners lose plants at times.@

  6. The only things I have in containers are the plants that come inside for winter..
    Citrus pineapple peppers and tomatoes

  7. I do all containers. It's my therapy and happiness. I like being able to change my garden also. Happy gardening, Memphis Tn

  8. I bought grow bags this year and my cucumbers, eggplants and squash didn’t produce well in the containers…the okra did well though…unsure if I needed to give more nutrients besides compost and plant tone. I have grown cucumbers many times in containers and yes I moved bc they needed less sun.

  9. I am elderly with bad knees and back. I cannot dig in the ground so containers help save my knees and back. I also love their mobility, educational aspects, and pretty colorful creative decor of all kinds of pots. BTW, love your Bible Gardening series which I just found. We really need more gardening channels that tout the source of all things – our Loving and Gracious God🥰🥰🥰

  10. Greetings everyone. I plant things in containers that I am not sure about their specific needs or that are new to me. I have found out that full sun is not the same for everyone. lol. I grow in Florida zone 9a. As I get to know the
Plants needs then I will put them in my raised garden beds. Wonderful post.

  11. I only container garden because of my disabilities and yes like this year I grew some pablono and Greek peppers and big beef tomatoes on the west side of my home which only gets the later afternoon sun only ! And they did great and the tomatoes grew a month long than those in direct sun

  12. Love my elevated raised beds but really love my containers. This is my third year growing corn in grow bags as well as my potatoes, I don’t have the benefit of full sun all day therefore I keep my containers/growbags on flat bed carts…I chase the sun. Works beautifully

  13. Im a newbie but apart from some makeshift raised gardenbeds and normal ground planting, I still use a lot of containers because they give you much more control over the elements etc.
I put some potatoes in containers because it will be super easy to harvest them.
Then I have some marygolds in containers because they always die on me when I transplant them into the soil so I just keep them in containers now. Also have some peppers in containers because I can better control their exposure to sunlight and how much water they get.

  14. Yep. I have a 40 square foot garden on 5.75 acres and I still have containers so I can move them into the shade or into the greenhouse…

  15. This is my second year gardening and the first to actually give me a harvest. I’m still doing all containers even tho I purchased a few beds (in a lease home ) in Texas zone 9a, so it made it difficult to tear up the backyard to level it to make that work- so just stuck to the containers. It’s made it easy tho because I can move things around and am out there every day if not every other day. Ty for sharing ! ❤️🙏🏼👌🏼
