  1. Well its passionfruit vine —a lot a people like it but can be aggressive. Your call honestly 🙂

Should be [Passiflora incarnata](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflora_incarnata), Purple Passionflower. If it’s not continually whacked / molested, it will probably grow back.

They are aggressive plants in some areas, but also pretty and butterfly food, so …

In its native range, personally I’d leave it unless you really don’t like where (or on what) they are growing.

I have a carpenter bee that I’ve become friends with, so if I find any more , I’ll leave them for him/her 🐝

Commonly called Maypop in the southern US

I love passion flowers. When people tell you it’s aggressive, they aren’t emphasizing it enough. It could compete with bamboo.

I’d take the maypop fruit if you find it…it’s great if you can fertilize it early enough, but if it grows too many fruits at once, the fruit is often times bland with a bit of plant taste instead of sweet and sour.

It’ll come back. Passiflora incarnata, purple passionflower. Native to the eastern US. Produces edible and delicious passionfruit referred to as maypops. Host plant for Gulf Fritallary butterflies, the caterpillars are orange to read with dark spikes all over.

If it’s very close to your house I’d recommend pulling it by the roots and keeping an eye out for any others that *may pop* up for the next year or two.

It’s rather aggressive and can be weedy but if it’s just growing on a treeline or a fence or something itll be fine as long as it’s a good 25 feet or so away from your foundation. It has a habit of growing through any little crack it can find.
