A 30 year old apple tree (no one knows the exact type anymore, but some sour autumn one) started spring with some branches with brown leaves. It got a branch cutting, but did not recover but the brown leaves spread through the tree. Most of the leaves drie and shrivel up but stay on the tree, some turn yellow and fall on the ground.
This tree lives in Austria where we had a hot spring and rainy start of summer. ChatGPT assumes a fungus. However no one in my Family knows much about trees (as you can see with the way it was cut).
What could it be and can we save it?
