Just wanted to share some photos of the lightning damage to a tree by the pig paddock that wiped out the electric fence unit and all gfci outlets and the lighting in two of our out buildings last night. The pigs could not be more curious of the event.

Not extremely relevant to the sub other than it taking out the electric so I do apologize and I understand if post is removed.

Actually, your experience is vital to homesteads, rural living. A friend ran a family dairy as a young man. Cattle tend to cluster during a storm. His fence was all wooden posts. Lightning hits barbwire and runs to the closest grounded item, in his case multiple Milk cows. He replaced some posts with t-post to counter the possibility.
Another story from my childhood. Neighbors owned a herd of horses. They took shelter under the only tree in the pasture. They all died under that tree.

Looks like a sector antenna up there. They make lightning arrestors for them.
