
Feel free to save and share this graphic. It’s a helpful tool for when to repot. Plants still growing to full size can be potted up into 2:1 and allowed to grow to 3:1 as they mature. Once they are full grown, maintain in 3:1. As an example, a 12 inch diameter mature plant should be maintained in a 4 inch diameter pot. This is for standard size plants. Miniatures and trailers don’t follow this rule.

You will notice no or few blooms for over-potted plants. Bloom count and quality and leaf health will suffer for an under potted plant as it struggles for nutrients and is heavily root bound in such a small pot. A properly sized pot keeps the plant slightly root bound which encourages the plant to bloom.
