I’m waiting for my local shop to grow some. October will be a good time to plant. It’s gorgeous!

I love swamp rose mallow. I have three flowering right now, and the flowers on each plant are all subtly different. One plant has flowers that look like yours, one has flowers that are white with red centers, and one has deeper magenta flowers. It’s deer resistant, and as long as it’s wet and sunny, it will thrive.

I have three volunteers that came up behind my compost and they’re all white with red centers. Stunning!

I have a dark magenta version!!! We just moved to this home exactly one year ago and it was in full bloom. Thought it died over the winter, looked pretty boring all spring, now it’s blooming again right on schedule! Good things come to those who wait! I’d love to know how to care for it more, and maybe add a cutting to other parts of our property

Mine’s going crazy but the flowers drop off pretty quick but they’re so beautiful
Yes!! Definitely one of my favorites, too. Planted mine 3 (?) years ago, or so. Hard to get good pictures that don’t also show the front of my house but there’s been about a dozen blooms so far this season 🙂 mine are a very light pink, a tad darker than it looks in the picture

Mine have been getting defoliated by hibiscus sawfly larvae the past few years

I planted two small ones this year but no flowers, hoping for them next year!! I’m also in New England and am absolutely stunned these are native, they’re so tropical.

I have 6 young plants still getting established, hopefully they flower next season.

Has anyone ordered these online? I’m unable to find locally and would love to add these beauties to our pollinator garden. 🐝

No but I saw these all over NE Ohio and I loved them. I’m too far north for them 🥲

Yeah big fan of my swamp rose mallows (as are the hummingbirds) – as others noted mine come in a few different shades each year ranging from white to dark pinks, 10/10 would recommend.

Hibiscus are one of my 4yos favorite plants and now will always have a special place in my heart. The last two years I planted a non native annual variety; this year I’ll be adding some native ones so we’ll have them all the time.

On my list to be planted in my yard next season!

I planted two this year and I’m so excited to add more!
Love ‘em. After the cup plant, the rose mallow are my apex pollinator plant. Also love that every night each flower has a sleepy bee who curls up in the petals like a bee burrito. And so many volunteers. I am drowning in mallow. Such a good problem to have.
I love them and it’s my favorite fun fact about native plants – that we have a native hibiscus! I was also delighted to learn this year about specialist Hibiscus turret bees. 🐝
But, I also planted too many and they took over my garden this year.
I have halberd-leaf rosemallow. They’re so beautiful and it’s a good thing they’re also really tough because mine gets brutalized by the Japanese beetles. I have to figure out something to get them to leave it alone.

Mine look exactly the same! Such a cool plant
I have some seeds I can’t wait to sow!
I waited 3 years for ours to bloom and when they finally did I couldn’t believe it! Such an incredible plant.
