Mr Gandy said he had enjoyed several parties in his bar, most recently his daughter’s 18th birthday with more than 100 guests.
“We had an opening party with [comical character] Clinton Baptiste, the clairvoyant, because he’s a big Wolves fan… he came and did the red ribbon for us.”
He added: “I should have called it The Dog House as I think this will be where I’m ending up if I’m honest.”
The bar name Cognitos is in memory of another comedian he knew – Ian Cognito – who became a good friend before he died on stage during a show.
On the day of the final on 23 August, second and third place entrants get a call just before 20:00 BST, with the winner announced on internet radio station Ngage Radio.
“At 8 o’clock,” Mr Gandy explained, “they will turn up to the winner’s house so we’ve all got to throw a big party and then we’ll see who is the winner then.”
More than 6,000 votes had been cast in the competition, organisers Two Fat Blokes Ltd said.
