Hi everyone,

Ik have a 3×4 greenhouse (with a curve at one side) a thick steel frame inside which is 2×2 meter holds the greenhouse firmly. On that frame I can put stuff. I am looking for the beste way to insulate. Last 4 years I used foil with big air pockets in it. But what I the best to have actually?

For a small greenhouse like yours, insulation is really about retaining warmth while still letting in enough light for healthy plant growth. Your bubble wrap was a smart choice! It’s inexpensive and effective.

I would recommend using horticultural-grade bubble wrap, which has UV protection, so it lasts longer and doesn’t yellow. Secure it tightly to minimize drafts and overlap the seams. You could also add a layer of thermal fleece for particularly cold nights.

If you want a prettier finish, consider making fitted panels with clear polycarbonate sheeting for the frame. It’s very durable, and it looks much more polished.

    Beautiful greenhouse.

2 inch foam board insulation on the entirety of the sides that don’t face the sun during the winter.

The stuff I use is rated at R13.

Bubble foil with large air pockets, which you’ve used, offers decent insulation but may degrade over time and reduce light. For better performance, consider double-layered polycarbonate panels (4-6mm thick) for walls and roof, as they provide excellent thermal insulation.
