Planning out my fall greenhouse build. I used a cheap tunnel greenhouse this summer and now I'm hooked. I'm more than likely going to go double this size and put a door on the backside (plywood section) the square holes are my 12"*12" shutter fans. The roof will be clear plastic roofing and the sides will be greenhouse film that I can roll up to control high temps w/ the fans during the summer. I'm going to install for screen material on the lower half so when I roll up the plastic I didn't get pests.

  1. Oh, how exciting! Expanding your greenhouse is such a smart move for year-round growing. I love your idea of adding a second door; it’s so practical for ventilation and workflow. The shutter fans and roll-up sides will make a world of difference for controlling summer heat, and incorporating screen material is a clever, natural way to keep pests out. I’d suggest framing your doorway and fan sections with something durable, like cedar, so it weathers beautifully. And don’t forget to plan for a little workspace inside, somewhere to pot plants, store tools, and maybe even a charming stool to sit and admire your handiwork. It sounds positively delightful!

Love it. If you double the size though (to 24×24), you may want to look into adding structural load-bearing support.

I think you should get a book and read up on joining. I don’t really think you want to notch all of those 2x4s and the top of the back wall is unattached to the side walls. It won’t hold a load.
