Can I graft this bridgesii onto this pereskiopsis?
Hi-
I’ve successfully grafted a variety of other cacti onto a perk, but was wondering if this bridgesii is too big to graft? I’ve got lots of smaller perks, but this is my largest one (and I think my best chance). Any thoughts?
You could but typically we only graft tricho seedlings to pere. The pere rootstock can only hold so much weight before it starts falling over and causing strain on the scion.

Yes, you can graft your Peru.
You will likely want to use the impale Tek, which is sharpening the pere into a point, making an x incision on the scion, and impaling it with the pere.
Be sure not to let any pere areoles enter the scion or you’ll have pere growing through it.
I wouldn’t do this, the “stock” that pup is on is already killer, but you absolutely can.
Edit: other comment reminded me about weight. I have a friend who did a bit of experimenting with pere height for grafting, and found that anything beyond 10cm doesn’t do too much for growth speed. Keeping it around this height will help with balance too.

Not ideal but would definitely work especially if you did an impale graft. It is a little bit big already but I’ve seen way bigger cacti on Pere before. You’d have to cut the pere pretty short or keep it really stable as it grows though. Id go for a different root stock if you can. Like dragon fruit, grandi etc

Cut your Pere down to 4 to 6 inches tall. Separate the three pups and do 3 stab grafts/ impale grafts. No problem, just stake them as they get taller.

Grafted three peri impales to my trich column. It can be done. Best of luck.
