I needed to get an old water line dug up which ruined my existing sod. I'd say its roughly 80 sq ft.

Is this a DIY kind of project or would it be better to just hire the pros? I am willing and able to if the process isn't too complicated for anyone who has done this before.

I am in GA and it is mid August. I want to say this is Zoysia sod? I will take some to a sod supplier to confirm.

Yes. Very DIY regardless of the grass. Take a sample to the sod supplier if you want to go that route. If it ends up being fescue you can level that with that with a few bags of topsoil in a month and put down some fescue seed and growing yourself.

If you want instant lawn, measure the area that you need replacing and you will need to excavate down an inch or so to get the new sod to lay flat. More labor intensive, but it’s such a small area.

Looks like a bit of crabgrass on the left too…

Improve the 3 pieces of sod that are too high. Level the topsoil (add more if needed). Then just seed the bare areas and keep watering it.

I had this happen.  It took them a total of 9 months from digging it up to putting down new seed.

It was terrible.  I hate dealing with utilities.

Lol just wait until some utility company shows up to install fiber in your neighborhood and proceeds to tear up your lawn without needing your permission
