So looking at the watering schedule he said it is looking fine but the grass was producing a lot of chaff and neeed aeration.
Something feels wrong to me. I don’t see how/when it will bounce back. I don’t know why healthy grass is covered in too soil? I don’t understand how there just won’t be dirt in the grass now. Can someone give me some insight or tell me if he screwed up my lawn?

Yep, just keep it watered and you’ll be golden
Just keep is moist, not overly saturated. Give it a couple weeks.
Top soil on a lawn is a fine thing to do
Plants need 3 things to grow: water, sunlight and dirt.
You wouldn’t have grass if you didn’t have dirt.
Report back with pics in 3 weeks.
Send him my way next, my lawn needs this too!
Ur lawn will be dope
Just curious why you’re asking us and not your landscaper? didn’t you two have a battle plan of what was going to be done? I always think it’s very strange on Reddit that people second guess services from professionals that they pay for
yes
Ngl dude, I had a laugh when I read your concern about dirt being in the grass. I’m no landscaper, but I can promise the dirt will not be on top of your grass once the grass grows.
Ohh thats gonna be a very green lawn as long as you water regularly, landscaper gave it the premium glowup
If he did it right you’re going to have a very nice lawn.
To early
Keep it moist
Your landscaper is a baller. Your lawn is going to be awesome
Your lawn guy did it right 👍 just keep it watered like other posters have said and do it in the early AM. Your lawn is going to be amazing soon 😁

Yeah nah, that’s the ticket. Ganna be like natures shag carpet out there
Your gardener deserves a raise.
It should bounce back in about 14-21 days with proper watering
I did this to fix some low spots and dead spots in the spring. After a month or two it was lush and filled in, 4 months it is completely blended and unrecognizable that it was ever repaired.
Hell ya. Fine job
Yup that is correct unless you pay for all new instant sod.
Your landscaper is one to keep, my friend.
He did this wonderfully and is exactly the type of thing you want to do going to the fall (assuming you are in northern hemisphere).
Watering really depends on where you’re at and the weather. The goal is to keep the seed moist, even through the heat of the day.
If you have a. Irrigation system, this is much easier to do as you can just set a schedule for the sprinklers to turn on a few times a day for a few minutes.
As far as watering at night, again, that really depends on your weather. Generally speaking you want to avoid running sprinklers in the evening/night. The cooler temps at night means it’s harder for the water that is on the grass to evaporate which COULD lead to fungus and other disease. Being in a humid climate only exacerbates that potential.
With that being said, even in a humid climate, if you watered in the evening until the grass germinates and starts growing, it’s really not that big of a deal. Fungus and disease issues usually come from extended night watering (like when that’s ALL and the only watering someone does).
Keep the seed moist until it germinates and your lawn with be POPPIN in the next 2-3 weeks.
Oh yeah, that’s the right way to do things. Give it some time.
As someone who has done crazy golf course renovations you need to shut up and calm yourself down. That looks good.
