We’ve officially started renovating the garden at our little Swedish cabin in the countryside — and we uncovered something completely unexpected! 🌿✨

In this video, we reveal a hidden stone patio and garden path that’s been buried under overgrowth for who knows how long. Malin and the kids also create a magical fairy garden, hopefully to inspire a bit of outdoor play and creativity. Meanwhile, Tom tackles some heavy-duty forest clearing with a reciprocating saw, taking down a tree to open up the space.

Whether you’re interested in DIY garden renovation, cabin life in Sweden, or just love watching a messy garden transform into something beautiful, we hope this video gives you plenty of ideas and inspiration.

Hello and welcome back
to our little channel. We are Malin, Tom, Charlie, and Isabella. We’ve spent the last few years fighting
cancer, living in a van and exploring the world, and now we’re taking on
a new challenge, turning this tired little Swedish cabin into a dream home. There’s a lot that needs to be
done, but it’s gonna be a fun ride! tag along. All right, so we’re back from
Dalarna and the sun is back. The morning when we were leaving,
the sun came back out and we only had rained the whole time we were there. Since we got back, I started cleaning
this rock ’cause it doesn’t look very nice with all the moss on it. Plus the fact that he gets a bit
slippy and just loads of reasons. I think it looks a lot better like this. So the plan today is to start doing the
bit where we’re gonna have the fairy garden in the end, but I need to clean
up like the stones and stuff around it as well, and maybe cut some of the
sticks and grass and all of those bits. that’s up in the forest. So I guess I get started. I, say yesterday I was supposed to
video when I was cleaning the rocks, but then I had kids helping me who did not
have much clothes on ’cause it was very hot and they liked plain in the water. So we’ll see how long I can video today
before naked, small humans show up. So I’m thinking if I, ah,
see if I can get down. So I think if I try to get these up
and a bit cleaned up so it becomes like a little edge and then inside of
that we can start putting stuff out. we basically only got that house to start
with, but then I was thinking, I’ve seen people build like little swing sets with
like old sticks from like ice creams. What are they called? Ice cream sticks. I dunno. Or I don’t know. You can build whatever, So
we’ll see what we get done. I think, to be honest, I’m just gonna
have time to tidy this up today. Not really put stuff out, but we’ll see. I’ll get started and see how far we get, Okay. So if I start at these rocks here, then
maybe that would be good way around. I don’t know. I feel like I don’t really
know what I’m doing. I also feel like I say that every
single video, as soon as I try to do something in the garden. Hey Bella, are we gonna try and do
where we’re gonna have the fairy garden? clean it up a bit. Did you help me clean
up the rocks yesterday? were you cleaning on here? Were you scrubbing? Yeah. Should we see if we
can get this done then? Or you just gonna be eating? Something like this with the stones maybe. I don’t know. I always question what I’m doing in the
beginning, so I think I’m just gonna have to trust the process and keep going. And hopefully it looks there in the end. It’s fairy garden time. Fairy garden time. Yes. Yes. So we’ve just been to the shop to pick up
a few extra bits, some lights and a few. Yes. To the fairy garden. Yes. To the fairy garden, yes. I bathed a little bit. Yeah. You’ve been in the
paddling pool, haven’t you? It’s hot today. That’s why. Yeah. That means that we need to figure
out where this house is going. It’s so we think we can
put right in the middle. Yes. Should we see if we can put
the camera somewhere and see if we can make this look nice? I think it would look nice. if you put it somewhere here,
maybe here would look nice. Maybe here would look nice or like that. Yeah. That’s nice. Yeah. Or does it have to be a bit more Oh. In the forest. Yeah. There. What do you think there? Yes. I can see you on the camera behind these
these, they’re gonna hang in the tree above you. Good morning, good morning. So we got all of these, I dunno what
they called in English, actually, like stone plates, like stone. I’ll show you in a second. but they’re all overgrown all
over the garden and they’re all overgrown and they’re hiding under
all of the grass that we got. So I thought that I might try and dig
them out, see if I can be bothered when I actually start or not. We don’t really want these, we want an
actual decking here at some point, but we are not gonna do that this year. So I might as well see if I can. Tidy this up a little bit. So that’s what me and Bella
are gonna be doing today. But yeah, I’m gonna show you how
it looks and then I’ll get started. I wish we had a pressure washer actually
would make this job a lot easier ’cause we’re gonna have to dig out all the grass
that’s grown on top of these stones, but then we’re gonna have to wash them
to make it look nice and I don’t really know how we’re gonna do that without
pressure Washer, that’s a hard word. One step at a time now. Might not even be there today. See how long we can manage to
do this before we get bored. I just thought you might wonder, why am I
doing this with Kids Tools, kids Spades? I don’t really know. I can’t find our spade little spade. The big ones don’t really work for
this, and it feels like it takes too much time to drive into town and
pick up a new one and then come back. So I thought I might
as well use what I got. And because I’ve been thinking
about doing this for about 25 minutes now, before I started I
needed to get it done straight away. I couldn’t wait another day to do it. So that’s why. I’m doing it with the kid’s stuff. Alright. Have a look at this. Just came out to to see how the how
the wife and kids were getting on. You’ve been cracking on, aren’t you? You? Yeah. Working hard. That’s great. Yeah. Need some plaster or something there? Oh, no. What you done? Blisters. Cut yourself? blisters. You blistered yourself ? overworked, mate. You say so. I don’t think so. You, if you started the
project, you need to finish it. Yeah. Apparently cracked on though, aren’t you? Yeah. It’s exhausting to be honest. Tiring working it. Yeah. Yeah. Almost there though. Almost there. Just need to find something
to put on my finger. Do we got any snails but two plasters? Kids chose the plasters last time. Yeah. And the, poo emoji. That’s what we got. Just have to put poo on your finger, mate. Alright. Life with kids isn’t it. Let’s go and have a look at this patio. We’ve got a patio. Well, good. Obviously our first choice
if we were doing it ourselves wouldn’t necessarily be a patio. It’d maybe be a decking or something
like that, but it’s already here. Look at this, obviously from
what the the old owners had done. It was just completely overgrown. As you can see. It is still here. That’s how it looked before. Uh, and now yeah, it looks cracking. So we’re borrowing a pressure washer next
week, and it’ll look absolutely spot on. And then if you look around here, this is
what Malin’s been doing today, uncovering all the slabs that go all the way from
this side over to the little shed. That looks really good. Yeah, it looks it looks cracking. It’s gonna be really nice when it’s
finished that, yeah, like I said, just get a pressure washer on it
and I think it’ll be really nice. Like I said, it’s already done. I was gonna say it was no
work, but obviously it’s not me that’s done all the work. It was Malin. So, but compared to like putting
something new down, it was a sort of day’s work to unclear it or whatever. It feels really nice that it was
just laid here underneath and, Yeah, it’s gonna be really good, I think. But now it’s my turn for a bit of
outdoor activity and today I’m gonna take down this bush tree thing. it’s in the way and it doesn’t
really give anything to be honest. It’s just smack bang in the
middle of where you walk over on this side of the house. I dunno how well you can see, but
it’s like you walk through there and it’s just smack bang in the middle. So I am gonna go and get my big man saw. Is there any better Sunday
afternoon activity than using a reciprocating saw to take down a tree? I don’t think so. Actually. You have to close your eyes in
here ’cause it’s it’s a mess. We’ve not got round to sorting
this area out yet, but there we go. Saw big saw with a good blade on it for
taking down trees and bushes and stuff. So that is my job for this afternoon. Fun times. This home ownership is fun, isn’t it? Alright, got my safety gear. Got me my heavy boots on. Got me kids ear defenders. ’cause I dunno where
the grownup ones went. crack on. See what happens. It’s actually almost all completely dead. There’s like a few a few strands of
living tree, but the rest of it’s actually completely dead almost. So I don’t even feel too
bad about taking it down. Not that I did anyway. All right, I’ll catch up
with you when it’s done. I’m gonna take my shirt off now,
so I’m gonna turn off the camera. and I’m a married man now, you see. there we are. Look, just gotta get rid
of all this stuff now. And job’s a good one. Look at this slacker over here, eh? Oh, I say you can take a break or what? You are not my boss. Hey, it looks good with
the sofa there, doesn’t it? Yeah, it’s a bit downhills, but it’s
a little bit downhill, but it’s, It’s nice and it’s a nice view as well. Yeah, it’s lovely. It’s like you look out over,
over the meadow, don’t you? Yeah. It’s nice. So I think we’ve uh, we’ve done
pretty well at Yeah, at that I think. Yeah. It’s started to feel nice. Does it here, don’t it? Yeah, it does. Got your nice tree planted. Look. Yeah. That was a wedding present. Wedding present. Peach tree. Peach tree that you’ve made
your own little pot for. Yeah. Yeah. Little pot. Your own giant pot, I should say. It’s a tree. It needs to be in a big pot. Yeah. That’s good. Looks nice. That does, yeah, it
looks nice, doesn’t it? A little DIY. Yeah, I know. But yeah, it starts to feel
nice back here now, don’t it? Yeah. to start with, we said oh, we are not
gonna sit on this side ’cause it’s, we just put the sofa here to start
with and we’ll see where it ends up. ’cause this is not very nice. Yeah. But now it’s it’s nice, isn’t it? It is. Feels nice with the sofa here. And then we got the
big table at the patio. Yeah. Like where we dug it out. We’ve not showed you that, have we? No. And then one of the things that
I think made has made a massive difference that I didn’t really think. Would be a huge difference. Is there the slabs that
you’ve dug up here? Yeah. Like the path Yeah. It dug. It’s make a big difference, don’t it? Yeah. Because obviously like it’s
the same with the patio, like it was there the whole time. Yeah. And it is just took a, few hours of
work and we’ve dug it out and now it’s something completely different. Yeah. It, feels more like. Finished. Yeah. Maybe you should say, yeah, yeah,
like you said, I didn’t think it would make a massive difference,
but it looks nice, doesn’t it? I think it looks really good. Yeah. Yeah. I think it looks lovely. Doing a good job with that, haven’t you? Thank you. That’s why I To serve a break. Yeah. You’ve been sat there for a while though. Oh yeah. It’s been a relatively successful
week, I think, isn’t it? Yeah. A lot of progress in the garden. I think garden progress again, hasn’t it? Yeah. It’s been nice actually. I feel like we needed that. Yeah. to get some bits done around here
before we go on the next adventure. Yes. Big adventure coming up next week. Yeah. For us it’s not next week. It’s very soon. Yeah. But for you it’s next week. Next week. Yeah. yes. We’re moving back into
the LAN for a little bit. Yeah. Aren’t we? We are. We’ve got some big plans coming up. Got some. We got a few weeks in the van, don’t we? We’ve got quite a few bits coming
up, which is gonna be really nice. It’s gonna be a good,
big, long, fun adventure. Yeah. And hopefully this weather
sticks around for a bit. Oh yeah. Really hope so. Yeah. Yeah. It’s gonna be nice I think,
looking forward to it. Yeah. But I think we’ll see you there. Yes. Or on the way, at least
on the way probably. Hopefully. Yes. We always say this and then we don’t
start videoing until we get there. Yeah. But we’ll see you. Somewhere on the adventure. We’ll see you when we see you. For you it’s gonna be Sunday. Yes. But thanks very much for
sticking around for this one. If you’ve watched it to
the end, you’re golden. You lot. We love you. We do. and if you’ve hit the subscribe button
already, then thank you for that. And if you haven’t, then do it. Please do. You won’t regret it, but we just wanna say

helping us out massively. Who are you laughing at? You are thumbs. What’s wrong with my thumbs? Not your actual thumbs. are they just in the way sometimes? Dunno what to do with my hands. I’m very. Handsy when I’m talking. I do a lot of this. I do a lot of this. I’ve thought about it. When I’m editing these videos,
I’m always pointing at you. Yeah, it’s a bit like a threat. Head over to paper. Yeah. Thank you for helping us out. It’s you lot keeping us going. Oh, alright. We’ll we’ll see you next week. Take care. You lot much love. Bye-bye. Bye.
