The screenshot pretty much says it all. Asking what u could do with over population of springtails. AI is unhinged with this response. I'm kinda mad about it because who tf would do that?! But it's funny because it's a novelty computing quirk… and harmless if you aren't a Neanderthal.

Yeah that’s brutal đŹ
Stop expecting human level compassion from AI
i would strongly reccomend switching search engine or finding an extention to remove those stupid answers
Yet, they are very important, given they can they are both detritivores and fungi-eating animals, then allowing plants to not have issue with competition or parasitism from fungi, as well as having fertilizer (from the actions of springtails themselves).
Just imagine if AI says the same thing about isopods!
Ai is a bit too efficientâŚ
Okay, google AI is entirely shit and full of mistakes. But I really don’t get your problem with it’s answer here. In the first place I don’t understand your request of google.
Your question is what do with springtails you don’t have a need for.
It suggests you use them in a Terrarium, Plant soil or sell them.
Then it tells you of a way to dispose of them. Where killing them off first is a very reasonable call, it’s not really “unhinged”. Maybe freezing would also work. But would you just dump them in your garden and be done with it or what? That’s literally how you get invasive species. Or sewer crocs/aligators, by just flushing them alive. Unhinged would be to add the culture to your/your neighbours rice pot for extra protein.
This is a bizarre place for the realisation to suddenly hit for me: the vast majority of people don’t know what the word genocide means.
I’m not having a go, OP. This was just a bit of a eureka moment for me that will help me navigate other topics popular at the moment.
In biocontrol that is how you kill insects that you are using for something but cannot release into the wild because they’re invasive. You can also put them in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer for a few hours. Boiling is much faster though. Not sure what OPs issue here is?
