This is the second year that deers have jump our fence and eaten most of the garden. Over dozen of plant of tomatoes…gone! Question is what are some solution to prevent this? Is my only option to build a tall fence?

You can go to your local humane shelter and get a dog. They are one solution to keeping deer away that has always worked. Their poop leaves their smell on the ground so that even when they are not guarding the garden, the deer thinks they may be there.

Plus you get an added, totally free, exclusive benefit of pure love.

This option, without the free benefits can be [purchased here](https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wolf+piss&crid=2JBERQCVFS4MK&sprefix=wolf+piss%2Caps%2C114).

Have you considered summoning the spirit of John Moses Browning?

This fence is so short it doesn’t even qualify as a fence in a deer’s mind. They can take that thing in stride!

Best way to make sure your garden is tasty 😍😍

Deer are a great source of free bone meal for the garden

In my area you can get a Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) from DNR if the deer are causing a significant nuisance and property damage. All other regulations apply, but allows you to kill deer on your property out of season.

Motion detector sprinkler that sprays them when they come by?

To be the chosen by deer so skittish of mankind must be an honor.
The easiest way is the path of least resistance.
The simplest rule is to grow one for you and one for nature.
Surely if you put up a net around the one for you and leave the ones for nature in a high traffic deer taste zone it’ll choose the path of easy access

lmao the disrespectful strut as if you’re the one bothering her.

Deer can jump 8 feet. Get some 11 foot T-posts, wire garden fencing, and zip ties. Very easy fence that keeps them out.

My next door neighbor has joined the retiree group feeding deer, in my middle of town neighborhood. Now I have to plant double for the deer plus up the ante on tick scouting.

My heartfelt sympathy. Groundhogs, raccoons and squirrels for me. Every year it’s something different.

This is the answer of a Deer Fence I sell them where I work and they work wonders !!

I feel your pain that’s how they look at me too. Liquid Fence works and so does DeerOut but you have to be vigilant and reapply. LF stinks and goes around the edges and DeerOut on the leaves and fruits. It is expensive and basically not really worth it in the end.

Someone in your neighborhood is probably feeding them. The lady across the street from me literally puts out a hundred pounds of corn every week– probably more. Huge groups of them show up on her driveway every day like it is their sole source of calories. It’s all year long and for many years. Other people feed them too.

PS – but for your size garden I would do 8′ fencing and just solve it. You can get deer netting too but that is a PITA.

My uncle did the most brilliant thing I have ever seen.

You know those blow up noodle men that they use in car lots… he bought a ten foot tall one on Amazon for around $25 set it to a Christmas tree timer to blow up every 15 mins for one min…
problem solved and creates a great conversation starter for visitors 😂

I have the same issue but with Kangaroos 🤣

Tall fence or motion activated water sprinklers/ water jets

8 foot fence. Anything shorter they can jump.

Building a taller fence is the only real solution here. It doesn’t have to be around the entire yard just the garden. The height should be a minimum of 6 feet but some deer will jump that too so 8 feet is ideal. Unless you make it so it’s crowded around the fence and on the other side then they won’t jump the 6 feet because they need a clear open space to run then jump over. You can wire tie or strap t-posts to your existing fence to extend the height on that one side. Then you’ll need 10 foot posts and hammer those in until you’re at 6 foot height around the rest of the garden.

Please don’t use the thin plastic deer netting. Birds and other animals get stuck in it.

Where I live Deer have infested the area. They ruin gardens, leave the droppings all over, spread Lyme disease and are hazard to motorists. We had a young man recently who was killed in a motorcycle accident because of Deer. I don’t mean sound cruel, but with no natural predators we need a solution to cull these massive infestations.

Taller fence is literally all you can do. I deal with the same problem. Once you fence it off and they can’t get in you will be shocked what actually can grow. Did this in my backyard in the spring my roses grew everything was so nice.

“Ofdeers,” maybe don’t live in Gilead

  28. Home_Baking_Mama

Build a second fence outside the first fence. I’ve read that deer have depth issues and if the two fences are close together they will not attempt to jump it. Easier than building an 8′ fence…

Leave the bandaged one alone, on top of that you invade his habitat you don’t let him eat
