First time tomato grower here! Can anyone help me diagnose this? Is it some sort of insect? Can I still eat the tomato? Any advice appreciated!

It looks to me like another stalk stuck into the tomato and caused a wound which has healed a bit funny.

Everybody is different, but I would absolutely cut the tomato open to eat and just throw away the bad bit. They are too hard to grow this year to risk wasting any!

Blossom end rot, comes from irregular watering schedule! You can cut the affected areas off once they ripen, use them to make sauce!
