The East Kinston Neighborhood Hub plan is a finalist for the 2025 World Landscape Architecture (WLA) Awards, earning international recognition for its approach to climate resilience, environmental stewardship, and equitable neighborhood revitalization, according to Chris Suggs, Executive Director of Kinston Teens and East Kinston Neighborhood Hub.

This announcement comes weeks after Kinston was recognized at the 2025 All-America City Awards, Suggs says.

This achievement would not be possible without the youth, neighbors, and community partners who contributed their voices and vision to shape this plan,” said Chris J. Suggs, Founder & Executive Director of Kinston Teens. “We are honored that our vision for East Kinston is standing alongside some of the most innovative and impactful projects from around the world.

Each submission to the WLA Awards was reviewed by an international jury, bringing perspectives and a rigorous standard of excellence to the selection process, according to Suggs.
