The West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale has announced that the Pymore Inn, based in the village just outside Bridport, is the branch’s winner of the Pub Garden Award 2025.
Pymore’s spacious garden was nominated by CAMRA members before an independent judging panel visited all gardens in the competition, compiling the results through a vigorous scoring system taking into account the likes of accessibility, cleanliness, tidiness and general up-keep of the garden.
This is the second time the pub has won the competition, having previously been crowned winners in 2021.
Landlord of the Pymore, Alex Marshall, was jubilant upon winning the award and praised the whole team who keep the garden looking the way it is. He said: ”We are utterly delighted at this year’s award, it’s very much a team effort and everyone appreciates its beauty, we even had a neighbour dead-heading the standard roses a couple of weeks ago.
“It’s great to be recognised by CAMRA as a lot of work goes into the maintenance and planting every year to make it an enjoyable space for everyone.”

“The garden was a clear winner with our judges when they visited, and judging by the number of people there on Friday night, we’re not alone in thinking that.”
Boasting a massive ground, the pub’s garden is surrounded by a Grade II listed red-bricked boundary wall and can sit up to 150 people outside. Speaking more about what made the pub stand out, a spokesperson for West Dorset CAMRA said: “There is a secure children’s play area, under covered marquee seating and a large timber clad outside bar near a fire pit for autumn nights.
“Although a large green space there is an ever-present fir tree that dominates the garden to give welcome shade on English hot summer’s days. Also to note is how the plants and shrubbery have blossomed and bloomed since the 2021 award making it a very appealing outside space that compliments the ivy clad pub itself.”
