The 2025 Southport Flower Show opens this week (Thursday 14th August to Sunday 17th August 2025 – here are 10 things we love about this amazing event. 

The biggest independent flower show in the country attracts around 55,000 visitors to Victoria Park in Southport with a huge amount to enjoy. 

Southport Flower Show was first held in 1924 and this year celebrates its 101st anniversary show. 

1 – Show Gardens

The Show Gardens always provide that wow factor with many months in the planning and weeks of back-breaking work to complete and some impressive trophies on offer. 

Visitors can admire 13 superb designs at Victoria Park this year. 

The talented designers and organisations behind the Show Gardens each bring a unique theme, vision, and creative flair!.

These gardens will be bursting with colour, creativity, and inspiration.

2 – Celebrities

We’ve seen some of the biggest names in gardening, showbusiness and sport at Southport Flower Show over the years, and this event is no exception. 

Expect to see some familiar faces as celebrity guests, such as singer Toyah Willcox; children’s TV favourite Justin Fletcher; Kelvin and Liz Fletcher from ITV’s Fletchers’ Family Farm; gardening experts David Domoney, Carole and George from Beechgrove Garden and Nick Bailey; TV chefs and presenters Rosemary Shrager, Phil Vickery and Cherish Finden; plus Zack George aka Steel from Gladiators. 

3 – Lots for children

Children under 16 go FREE at Southport Flower Show – and here’s plenty for them to enjoy! 

See Justin Fletcher, an iconic singer and television presenter. Speaking and performing in various, often self-created roles, he specialises in comedy and worked with children with special educational needs through his show Something Special. Justin Fletcher is also known as CBeebies favourite Mr Tumble but stepped back from CBeebies earlier this year after 22 years.

This year organisers are enhancing the children’s activities at the show and will have a children’s trail.

4 – Great Entertainment

There is lots of entertainment to enjoy throughout Victoria Park to impress visitors of all ages. 

The Arena is the place for excitement and brilliant entertainment. 

There is a stunning line-up of spectacular thrills and amazing performances to surprise as well as amuse. 

West Lancs Dog Display Team and SMJ Falconry will perform on all four show days.

Kay with Talent of the Horse will be there on Thursday and Saturday and you can see Faye and Esme, Francis Farm on Friday and Sunday.

The Piazza Stage provides continuous ‘easy listening’ right by the main catering areas, again with lots of seating.

Southport adults can enjoy an impressive £11 off the price of a gate ticket. 

People living in the PR8 and PR9 postcodes can pay for their tickets for just £19 each – a substantial saving on the £30 gate price once the event starts.

6 – Cookery Theatre

This is more than a flower show. 

Foodies will also love the famous Cookery Theatre, with demonstrations from some of the top chefs in the country, as well as some superb local chefs. 

Enjoy their recipes? Call into their restaurants in Southport after the show! 

Celebrity chefs this year include: Rosemary Shrager, Phil Vickery, Cherish Finden, Nancy Birtwistle, Brina Mellor, Dhruv Baker, and Hayley Tully. 

7 – Schools Design-A-Garden Competition 

After receiving almost 500 entries from talented pupils across the North West, this year’s winning design comes from the brilliant Gardening Club at Trawden Forest Primary School, Trawden, Lancashire. 

Their inspiring and creative garden will be brought to life and showcased at this year’s Southport Flower Show. 

A huge thank you to our fantastic judging panel for their time and support: Cloud Gardener UK Northern Lily Britain In Bloom, North West And to all the schools across the North West who entered – your creativity, care, and passion blew the judges away. 

The garden is being built by Jason Williams, The Cloud Gardener.

8 – Amateur Growers

Southport Flower Show holds the largest amateur grower competition in the UK. 

Visit the Amateur Marquee to see this year’s competitors with their prize-winning exhibits of flowers, plants, fruit and veg spread across 400 different classes. 

You can see eye-catching entries in classes including: Floral Art; Honey, Baking and Preserves; and more. 

9 – Enchanted Fields

Fancy a break from the crowds? Escape to the Enchanted Fields Wellness zone for a free taster session at all levels, including Yoga, Pilates, Meditation, Sound Healing, Reiki, and Hand Reflexology. 

Experienced and friendly instructors will be on site – flower petals and glitter sprinkles at the ready – to welcome you to the wonders of wellness. All you need to bring yourself and a smile to join us to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate. 

While you indulge in some self-care, your little ones can also enjoy children’s yoga, meditation, and crafting as we are an inclusive, family-friendly experience. 

10 – One Night In Old Hollywood

People can enjoy a glamorous evening at a special ‘One Night in Old Hollywood’ event taking place this August. 

An Evening of cabaret, magic, music, comedy and dancing, organised by Enhance Events, will take place in the Summer Pavilion at Victoria Park in Southport 7pm-11pm on Saturday 16th August 2025. 

Step back in time and experience the glitz and glamour of the golden age of Hollywood at One Night in Old Hollywood — a dazzling evening of cabaret-style entertainment set in the elegant Summer Pavilion at Southport Flower Show.

Enjoy an unforgettable night filled with live music, spellbinding magic, laugh-out-loud comedy, and dancing, all inspired by the timeless charm of classic Hollywood.
