Tomato cracking is frustrating. I show how to prevent it.

Why do tomatoes crack? The biggest reason tomatoes crack is due to the rain. When tomatoes are green like this one, the skin is able to expand when it rains and they swallow up the water so they don’t crack. But once tomatoes start to blush or ripen, the skin is unable to expand. So when it rains, they swallow up the water or soak up the water and crack. So how do you prevent the cracking? If you know it’s going to rain, what you want to do is harvest your tomatoes when they start to blush. Sort of like this one here. Even if the tomato only has a little bit color, sort of like this one, it’ll still ripen just fine on the counter and taste just the same as if you left it on the vine. Thanks for watching everyone.
