I removed an old shed in my garden yesterday and the Leylandii has gone brown behind through not having any direct sunlight. The growth above looks healthy.

What should I do about the old brown areas? Will they recover? Thanks

In my experience no, once it has browned it will not regrow unfortunately.

Just to add, I ended up cutting mine down as I found it too unsightly in the end.

Trim off the dead growth and you will be able to live with it!

The brown won’t regrow but it’s possible the green bits might spread.

Probably not but you know, it’s awful, so take them all out lol

No. Once leylandi go brown that section is dead for ever. They don’t regen from dead areas unfortunately.

No, but this is the universe’s way of telling you to get something else

No, when they die from the bottom like that, there is no coming back.

Unlikely. If you can’t afford to replace with something nicer, you can grow ivy across it.

Nope, sorry. Might be time to rip them out and replace with something more suitable.

  10. No. Plant some creepers (Clematis honeysuckle, jasmine, hydrangea, whatever) at the front and they will cover it up nicely.
