For context, just because I feel like it's important to mention – I lost my youngest brother in the middle of June. Since then I've struggled with grief, work, and my hobbies, especially my plants.

A friend of mine came today and hearing her say that her heart was breaking for me because I'm so used to having my plants well taken care of, refreshed moss and perlite, always watered, humidity going, etc.

Right now my humidifiers haven't been on for at least a month. Plants are alive, but not thriving. I'm overwhelmed and the plants are suffering.

My friend offered to take some cuttings and plants from me, about 25 (I still have enough, but I don't have to play tetris to put them back in the cabinet) and honestly, it's a relief to admit I can't continue. She also offered to grow them and sell and ship, I of course am paying her a portion of that.

I'm tired… And I don't see that going away any time soon.

Just a message to anybody going through the same, or possibly depression or something big that overtakes your time… It's OK to not be OK, and to give some up to friends so that they can help you.

Photo of my slightly more open roomed Fabrikor so I don't get lost, featuring my Pallidiflorum my mom gave me that is growing beautifully.

šŸ’ššŸŒ±Stay encouraged and do what you need to do to take care of you

  2. Im so sorry for your loss. I’ve been there. Not a loss but depression and i just couldn’t cope w my plants anymore. I’ve been really grateful for my friends. Some came helped me sort through a lot. We made a box to sell she kept some and just doing that gave me some clarity and a lot of piece of mind. I still have a lot but downgraded. And eventually a couple of weeks later i was back at it.
All that to say take time for yourself. Heal. Plants will always be there to welcome you again.

Thank you for this. It was bittersweet, I know my friend will take good care and when she sells it’ll be nice to have funds back in my account, but strangely with each one I handed over it was a feeling of weight coming off my shoulders.

How did you manage to make that anthurium grow so large leaves?
