I finished building my Potting Bench last week with salvaged wood, fence pickets & some galvanized tin. Now for the fun part! Filling it up with lots of plants, clay pots, some cute vintage and antique finds. I even fit a cloche with a fun birds nest display in it. I laid some bricks, blocks and dock wood and a few decorative tiles on the ground. I hope you enjoy the potting bench tour as much as I enjoyed building & decorating it!

Thanks for watching! Terri @CrookedHouseAndStudio

Hi there. This is Terry at my Crooked Housing Studio and thanks so much for joining me for my little potting bench tour. If you’ve not seen one of my videos, uh this is my studio which is right outside my lai and we just finished this. Well, it’s not completely finished but just started it in uh September of last year. So, that’s the front. And of course, I keep adding more. And if you seen my outside studio tour, of course, I have changed my mind. I was planning on doing wood shutters on this window. And I ended up finding these extra long poles so I could put my clamshell up really high. And it has just it’s just fabulous. I just love it. It’s just so nice having like so much shade there. You live in Florida, you know. I mean, we love the shade, that’s for sure. So, I have done, of course, filled up well, I call it a potting bench, but my husband calls it uh a display bench. So, and if you’ve seen my studio tour, this is how my um my workbenches in my studio look. also is just filled with stuff. But I can’t help it. I just I love old things and I love to decorate with old things. And so this is how I roll. Okay, so I just used up every random brick and black we had there. Then I had these really cool floory tiles, which I like a lot. You can’t that those are very thin, so you cannot put them like in a real walkway or whatever. But they’re doing fine there. They’ve been there for four or five days now. And these were some really they’re glass tiles. Not sure what those were for, but that’s all I had was three of them. So, I like the way they fit in that space very well. I’ve been doing a lot of transplanting plants and collecting more plants. I was at a friend’s house who was actually they were an antique dealer and they have about five acres of absolutely amazing amazing property and five acres down here. Shoot, that’s a lot. And with ponds and beautiful native plants everywhere. So, I have a I got a bin of them over there waiting to be transplanted. So, what I’ve been doing I have been using this even though there’s not a lot of space here, but I’ve been using these um granite wear pieces and then set that on the on the counter and then potting my plants in there. And this is something totally new for me. I got this cloch at my friend’s house, which I’ve never had a cloch before. So, I did this little display in there. Got a paskki stone in there, of course, and a little morel mushroom. Super cute. So, that’s fun to have. I’ll be interested in seeing what kind of bugs I end up getting in there. I don’t know. And I have a a big stash of hooks here. I don’t want to completely fill up the whole thing with all the hooks. Kind of work as I go. Like when I need a hook here, I’ll put it up. So, I got some I got some really fun like antique things. And holy smokes. Yeah, this is a mosquito haven. They really like this area, that’s for sure. So, I’m going to have to get try some like lemongrass or something like that. See if I can deter them a little bit. So, I put that piece up that I used to use that for when I did craft shows. And so, I’m not sure if I’m just going to put like a vine below it or, you know, do the clothes pin thing, but at my friend’s house when we went out picking, I he had tons of clay pots. So, that’s the clay pot storage for now. And I have an idea to cover up my uh air conditioning there. And I’m going to put some shelves back there. Also, I got a really cool piece of wood that has like slats in it. So, I think I’m going to use those for some more shelves. Maybe I should actually put another whole workbench back there. But that’s super sunny over there. So that’s Yeah, I don’t want I don’t want that. Another bunch back there. So this was a lamp that I just got at my friend’s house and I just took it apart and put that finineal on top. This little toad I painted in 2017. And I just absolutely love that little saying there by Jan Bills, which I have no idea who she is. I put a little bee on there. Also, I got the acorn at my friends the other day, too. And then also this. He said this is a kind of orchid. I have no idea what kind, but it’s beautiful. And so I put it in an orchid pot. So I’m super happy how it’s all looking. And yes, it is probably more for looks than function. I just put those solar lights up completely. It fit my whole studio perfectly. So, I had the string lights there and I didn’t want to deal with like taking those down and adding more of the electric and so I thought I just go with the solar. I mean, and they’re almost as bright as my electric ones. And they definitely do last all night long. So, all right. Well, short and sweet. I hope you like the tour. Hope you don’t mind dog barking. I don’t know. Oh, I put that stained glass star up there. And I’m sure this space will end up getting filled with something. I got some old windows. I was thinking maybe I do like a little cupboard or something there. But I’m sure pretty much every inch of space is going to end up being filled all the way around the studio. So, thanks so much for watching. I hope you like the tour. See you at the next one.
