I recently moved and attributed some distress to that and new light/temp conditions. I took a closer look today and found that messed up and missed an infestation at an early stage. So now I have about 10 plants affected and need to know what this adversary is! It is currently on my ficus, orchid, and calathea.

Orchids in bark/moss mix and soaked weekly. Ficus/Calathea in soil/perlite mix and watered weekly. Mostly indirect sunlight with 2ish hrs of direct sunlight for calathea and ficus.

Please help!

Is that dirt? Also is the light green spots part of the pattern of the plant or is that also damage?

Definitely some sort of infestation. The black dots are most likely feces, probably from thrips. If it was me I’d probably repot the worst plants and throw out all the soil. I’d give them a good shower, roots and all. Repot in fresh soil and treat with Neem and any other preferred pest control product. There will probably be a shock period but hopefully once they’re pest free they can start to recover.
