My neighbor had this problem and he ended up putting a thin sheet metal piece between them and then painted it the same color as the pergola. Idk if this is the best solution tho 🙂

Flashing is going to be your best bet but with a terracotta roof it might be a challenge. Pergola should have been installed under your roof and flush against the wall

Piece of painted tin attached to house and pergola

  4. I feel making a piece that goes from the pergola to the home secured on that board underneath with a trough like gutter leading to the end to move the water away from the house would work also.

    I’m absolutely gutted for you

Would it have made sense to tuck the pergola under the houses Eve?

Can you move your pergola? It it bolted or concreted in?

  8. Mount a gutter to the beam on the left, install a piece of flashing or corrugated material on the facsia which angles down into the gutter. Other option would be similiar to an under deck system where you can have a panel that runs the length of that eave higher on one end, lower on the other… make it floating so you can take it down for cleaning etc…. this would divert water away to one side

Genuine question here: Aren’t pergolas roof-less?

Seems like a custom fab job since the gap is so tiny. Traditional gutters on that line might look odd and possibly not even work.
I would probably get a 3 or 4 inch PVC pipe at that length, paint it to color match, cut the top half across the length of it making a kind of trough shape, affix your own “gutter guard” like a mesh to cover the top so leaves or debris doesn’t get in, attach with custom fastener (some kind of c clamp perhaps)
You may need to get creative in the situation due to the less than ideal location of the other structure.

Cut some tin roofing to fit the space and “extend” the pergola, and caulk around it?

Angled wire mesh and shade cloth?

Large Potted plants or grow some vines?

    A series of rain chains?

Seems like you could make something happen.

Climb on top of pergola, unscrew corrugated metal sheets from pergola(replace with new stainless hardware if they aren’t already for bonus points), shift roof over to under your roof tiles, resecure using same holes in corrugated sheets.

You needs to install a gutter there.

How much space is there between the fascia and pergola?

I’d say you should find/craft a custom trench style gutter piece that hangs below. Get someone to fabricate you a copper one could be an option too. And have it drain into a rain barrel

Gutter lower to catch the water & divert

Pretty sure if you connect it to the house, the town/city requires a permit as it’s considered adding on to an existing structure (due to the size). I might be wrong but I remember one of my customers wanted a pergola that was attached to their house and because of city rules, we had to leave a gap between otherwise they would give a hefty fine and you need to take down the pergola. You might want to check with the city first

  18. See if you can’t find some matching corrugated stuff like the pergola roof and overlap it on the pergola roof but bridging the gap so rain can’t come through

I think the only solution is to move the house a few inches to make room for the gutter.

Pirate walks in to a bar with a giant steering wheel on his belt. Bartender asks him about it. Yarrr it’s driving me nuts

Anyone else confused perspective thought it was looking down a condo wall or something?

  22. Phalus_Falator

50 beads of caulk, each one applied every 24 hours

Pick up a canopy gutter for $50 in whatever color you want and call it a day

A flashing from siding… above the pergola roof.
