I've heard these unicorn cactus are weird mutations. This new growth is interesting. We've had this for about a year and it's grown quite well here in Vegas. Now this new appendage is growing and it looks nothing like the mother plant. We don't have any other cactus that have grown a mutant like this.

Should I leave it on, or let it keep jamming? These cactus are precariously balanced when there's not a weird growth causing a bit of a tilt.

Let it grow! It will grow faster that way than rooting it.

Yes, this clone has multiple different forms. Your pup is crested which is probably pretty rare!

I would keep it attached as long as possible, to give it longer to root, but I’ve never rooted these guys so I can’t speak to this. If you are worried about stability (looks rightfully so) you could either graft it or blast it with rooting powder. What you have here is rather special.

Very cool! Mine is growing it’s first pup now, but it appears to be the normal clone..

Looks like a crested form pupping. My crested spiralis is one of my favorites in my garden
