  1. We have a flock that lives in our trees, pretty much year round but mostly populated in spring/summer. We have a thistle seed feeder we leave up in the months with no flowers, and a birdbath nearby. They love it here! We plant plenty of coneflowers and black eyed Susans that also attract them. We’re in central Virginia and have a partially wooded yard.

I’ve been seeing a goldfinch couple in my yard the last few weeks. I hope they have a nest nearby and I’ll see their babies once they fledge. I’ve been native gardening since I bought my house 4 years ago, and I’ve gradually been seeing more and more wildlife. This is the first year I’ve seen goldfinches here.

I have a Bob the 11th and I finally met his wife Bob the 12th yesterday! Goldfinches are newer in general to the yard but Bob 11th has been coming every morning this year. They love my purple coneflowers.

Side note: I love the movie What About Bob? And can’t help but name things Bob. Bob 13&14 are monarch caterpillars in the backyard lol.
