We have a house on the lake that teeters on the side of a cliff. To help with runoff, we want to let the weeds run rampant on the incline. We’re in East Tennessee. Any thoughts on how I could plant wildflowers to help with the aesthetics? And what time of year is best? There are areas I’d just have to spray and pray, because it’s difficult to access. Any other suggestions to help preserve the surrounding nature but bring some beauty to the construction mess?

Got any better pictures? That drop off looks steep and more like retaining wall steep not “let the weeds hold it” steep

Was this taken with a flip phone form 2001?

I would probably consult a biologist and figure out appropriate sloping or use a tiered system for easier planting. As far as plants you’ll want to look at native reeds or sedges for the best slope protection. Look up native websites, associations, directories from your area that will shine more light on natives.
