These flowers are so pretty! They popped up next to one of my potted tomato plants. I’ve lived here for over a year and have never seen them in my yard before. What are they??

  1. the foliage was there in spring and died back before the flowers came up.

Stick a popsicle stick in the ground now so you can ID the foliage when it cones up next year

  2. I got tons of these surprise Lillie’s in the past week

they seem to be early this year-usually bloom closer to labor day.

Tip-stick a sheperd’s hook with a bird feeder in the middle of the foliage that pops up in the spring. Mow the foliage off around mid-June when it starts to brown. The seeds that the birds have dropped (usually millet or milo, some small sunflowers) will grow up with the “naked lady” stalks and they won’t look so “naked”

yes, take a shovel full with you-they will be fine in a bucket for several weeks with just an inch or so of water. spread pretty quickly. I have mine around my “sewer” holding tank/vent to disguise it a bit.

Aussies call them Naked Lady, Belladonna Lily or Easter Lily.
