These are dying off now. The fence on the left faces south. I am looking to pull these out and replace them. I'd love to put some hardy perrenials in here that give good year round colour. Or maybe one hardy one herbaceous?
The planter has no bottom and is about 1.2metres long and 40cm wide.
Any inspiration welcome.

What is your climate like? What you can grow that will remain green / flowering may depend on how cold your winters are.
For example, if you sow Nasturtium seeds at different times, and your climate is not too icy, it may be possible to have Nasturtiums all year round.
Otherwise, if you get heavier frosts or snow, you will need to select hardier plants.
