finished working on my redone set up(still have to add leaves but that's a task for later). It's home to a mix of powder isopods and a TON of springtails. Plants used are nerve plant, peace lilly, silver satin pothos, a bunch of random moss I collected outside. This whole setup was pretty cheap, the plants being most of the cost. I got lucky and found the terrarium itself by a dumpster. The foam backing, silicon, wood, and cork were the other big costs, but overall not bad.

Second slide is my two springtail colonies. First was from petsmart, but I added some sphagnum moss for moisture retention. Second one I made my own using some leca, some more moss, and a fine mesh repurposed from some garlic (washed first) I want a ton of them for my setup since I have a bad fungus gnat problem and heard they can outcompete pretty well.

Third slide was two of my isopods. I've never seen powders get stripes like that. Cool!

I had initially built everything a month ago but I realized that I hadn't done it very well and decided to redo from scratch, which meant I had to collect all my items and plants from it and store them in buckets and bags for a few days while the silicon from the backdrop dried. i am very thankful to still have a thriving isopod population and an abundance of springtails. Also glad my plants didn't die while waiting.

Let me know if you see anything wrong or have tips to improve!
