I find it so hard to ID bumblebees, Even if they are not moving fast, getting a good shot is tough, I do close ups, but maybe you only see the first 2-3 segments of the abdomen, but not the thorax, or you have a side view that doesn’t give a good image for ID. Or, they decide to move on too quickly! Hope it is B pensylvanicus!

They move so darn fast. I always try to have my iNaturalist app at the ready to ID them.

so that looks like a Black and Gold bumblebee to me but they’re hard to tell apart
It looks HUGE, and the wings are shaped more like this, and the speed it is moving around all look more like a “hummingbird moth”. The Snowberry Clearwing is w yellow and black striped like an enormous bumblebee.

I had to google for a closer look and their darker wings looks gorgeous. I hope we’d see more of them.

What a cool looking plant. I love the leaves.

Partridge peas are having a stellar year in Northeast Kansas. Every ditch if full of them and there are virtually no other types of wildflowers!

I caught this big guy the other day, they really are just huge.
Partridge Pea is underrated. So happy to see it. Obviously the bees thank you, whoever they are.
I love partridge pea!
