Not a warm season expert but it looks like either some type of bermuda or more Centipede.

Bermuda crawlers. That soil looks a bit compacted in the dead spots. If you don’t want the Bermuda to take over, I would suggest pulling up what you can and then core aerating the dead spots and overseeding with your grass of choice in the fall. I’m in zone 8a and I aerate/overseed in late September.

I call it Wire Grass. Its impossible to get rid of, been trying four 8 years now.

Bermuda, too much water and too much fertilizer. That will fill it in fast.

  5. Centipede is one of the slowest growing warm season grasses. You’ll have to sod to get that spot covered before the Bermuda gets it.

That looks to me like centipedes more than Bermuda. Centipede is super low maintenance looks very similar to Bermuda. Both warm weather favorites. Bermuda is high maintenance, can take heavy traffic and is more durable if you can maintain it. That is the key. Centipede, i just water and that shit grows on just about anything. Rocks, sidewalks tree stumps. I fertilize(nitrogen mostly)2x a year spring and fall water it in deep. Set mower to 4.5.

Centipede. Awesome, low maintenance, warm season grass

Bermuda will be in every nook and cranny in on your property and your neighbors and their neighbors. It can’t be pulled to control. Nuke that vile invader.
