Llandybie resident Jenny Jones is calling on fellow villagers to join her in launching the scheme, which would see residents open their gardens to the public for a day or two.
Ms Jones said: “I have been on visits to other village open garden days and thought I would try and set one up in my village.
“I am looking for volunteers to join me in being willing to open their garden to the public for one day and for volunteers to run the event.
“All gardens welcome, they don’t have to be RHS prize winning, just a loved space.
“All money raised can go to local charities or to fund projects to improve our beautiful village.”
She believes the scheme would be a rewarding way for people to celebrate their outdoor spaces, whether they are newly planted or lovingly maintained over many years.
Ms Jones is also considering a competition for the best-kept front garden and hanging basket, which could involve the local school and help brighten the village.
Anyone interested in taking part is encouraged to get involved and to contact Ms Jones on 07866206908.
